Google partners FISME to roll out Indiagetonline’ campaign for MSMEs 


Google India, the Indian arm of global search giant Google Inc, launched on November 2, 2011, Indiagetonline campaign - an initiative to offer 500,000 free websites to Indian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) over the next three years. FISME, in turn, given its commitment to promote and protect the interests of Indian MSMEs, readily agreed to help Google as, in this era of ongoing digital revolution, it is imperative for businesses to get on the Internet bandwagon as a key element of their marketing strategy. Moreover, with the Union Cabinet approving a new Public Procurement Policy under which all central government departments and public sector units will be required to source at least 20% of their total annual purchases from MSMEs registered under the MSME Development Act, 2006, it is essential for MSMEs to have a presence on the Internet so that central government departments and public sector units can easily find MSME vendors to meet their target of sourcing at least 20% of their purchases from MSMEs.

In fact, at the function to launch the Google initiative, Union Minister for Rural Development Mr Jairam Ramesh, highlighted this point during his address as the chief guest. The event got wide media coverage. Click here for media reports on the event.
