President's Message
Mr Animesh SaxenaAmong the MSME universe the announcement of National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman a few weeks ago, has largely gone unnoticed. It should not have been. It is the first serious effort by the NDA government to redeem its pledge: Govt has no business to be in business. Thanks deep socialist moorings across the political spectrum, it is impossible to make a move towards ‘privatization’. Which is quickly branded by political parties as sell off’. The mid way is leasing out the assets to private sector and monetise. Two successive Covid relief packages, requirement of massive amount of funds to help restart the economy and geo-political developments of last two years have exacerbated the need to raise resources through asset monetization. To rest the frayed nerves of opposition the FM clarified that land will not be monetised under NMP only brownfield assets to be monetised. The NMP can indeed create a positive trigger for the economy as it is all about better realization of revenue through completed assets using private sector energies and plough the money back in creation of more infrastructure. Roads, railways and power sector assets will comprise over 66% of the total estimated value of the assets to be monetised, with the remaining upcoming sectors including telecom, mining, aviation, ports, natural gas and petroleum product pipelines, warehouses and stadiums. This is no less significant than the privatization process of Vajpayee Government which created a cycle of investment boom. "

How to Grow Your Business in the Post-Pandemic Era

Right now, most businesses are focused on establishing a "new normal." Leaders are mulling over the return to work and weighing the benefits of in-person, remote and hybrid models. Others are considering the pros and cons of vaccine mandates. And certainly, every CEO needs to take decisive action one way or the other. But beyond these hot-button issues, there’s still one facet of running a business that has demanded attention all along — growth.
