Seventh India SME Forum held in Kolkata


The ‘India SME Forum’- 7th in series of forums being organized across the country with FISME as SME Partner of the campaign, was held in Kolkata  on September 22, 2012 at the Oberoi Grand. 

The Forum is focusing on two issues: Marketing & Branding and Innovative Financing.   Former Executive Vice President of J. Walter Thomson (JWT) and media guru Nikhil Nehru explained MSMEs the fundamentals of branding.  Other key speakers who spoke on ways to promote brands and about utilisation of Information Technology for enabling SMEs to reach at the level of corporates in terms of pricing and marketing included Mr Shashi Ravulapaty, Chief technology Officer, Reliance Capital and Mr Deepak Pandey, Executive Vice President SME-Vodafone.     

The panellists for the second session on “Funding for Sustainable Growth” included Mr Souvik Sengupta, Business Head, SME Loans, Reliance Capital, Mr Parag Patki, Chief executive Officer, SME Rating Agency of India, Mr Prashant Kumar Jha, Regional Head, Bombay Stock Exchange, Mr Manish Bhatt, Vice President & Head for Initial Public Offering & Primary Markets, Prabhudas Lilladher.

Earlier Mr Biswanath Bhattacharya, President, FOSMI (Federation of Small & Medium Industries), West Bengal welcomed the SMEs and emphasised the importance of this sector for the growth of the Indian economy.  Mr SK Basu, Director, MSMSE DI, Kolkata also joined and discussed about MSME’s initiatives and activities such as development of national skill, manufacturing and cluster development. Mr Vinod Kumar, Partner SDRC thanked all the SMEs present for joining the SME movement.

The SME Forum is a series of events being organised to select SMEs for the ‘India SME 100 Award’ and ranking them under the India SME Forum & Award.  FISME President Mr VK Agarwal is one of the members of India SME Forum Board and jury for the India SME 100 Awards.  

Reliance Commercial Finance, a part of Reliance Capital, a Reliance Group company in partnership with FISME has organised the forum along with several other organisations such as Sustainable Development Research & Consulting, Go Air, Mahindra & Mahindra, SMERA (SME Rating Agency of India Ltd.), Bloomberg UTV and Laqshya.
