FISME organises 4th Innovation Lab for MSMEs in Hyderabad

 

Emphasizing on the adoption of innovation among Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) organised fourth Innovation Lab for them- helping new age MSMEs compete with innovative ideas on Feb 21, 2013 in Hyderabad.


Mr David Wittenberg, the star speaker of the event and the CEO of the Innovation Workgroup made an impressive presentation on value creation through innovation in SMEs. “Innovation is a discipline, a body of knowledge you can study, master and apply to various challenges,” he said.   Mr Wittenberg defined innovation as the discipline and process of applying frameworks and techniques for analysis, practices that stimulate ideation, and methods of prototyping in order to conceive and develop original solutions to problems.


Very often, all it takes to solve a really tough business challenge is a simple, new idea. “How can you get your staff to find such simple - yet powerful - ideas to transform your business is the science and art which entrepreneurs need to learn and master,” he said.


 “Innovation is crucial for MSMEs as they cannot match resources of large companies but by embracing innovation they can outperform them,” said Mr Satish Gottipati, Central Executive Committee member and in-charge Andhra Pradesh, FISME in the welcoming address. 


Realizing the criticality of innovation in Indian context, National Innovation Council (NIC) has been set up under the Chairmanship of Mr Sam Pitroda.   Mr Keerthi Lal Kala, from the office of Advisor to Prime Minister on Innovation gave a presentation on various initiative being taken by NIC in various MSME clusters. 


The search engine giant Google can help corporates to innovate. Mr Arshad Mirza, SMB marketing, Google, strove hard to drive the tenets of novelizing the concept of searching the web. He explained how MSMEs can benefit by various initiatives launched by Google.


Mr M Manjunath Shetty, Head BSG SMB Airtel spoke about unexplored territories like Novel Monetary Payment Methods, Bill Payments etc. These could serve as a cue for many SME aspirants to devise novel plans and emerge victorious in their business. 


The other speakers were Mr Aslam Basha, Regional Manager, TCS iON solutions and Mr Arun Saxena, Chief Mentor-Insights and Direction.


Mr Mukesh Kalra, Joint Secretary (International Trade), FISME wrapped up the event by emphasising the need to carry forward with the given experience.
