FISME organises Awareness Programme on QMS/QTT in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh

 
An awareness programme on QMS / QTT was organised by FISME at Baddi the major manufacturing hub of Himachal Pradesh on 9th March, 2015. The programme was organised under the support from the Office of DC (MSME), Government of India, under NMCP programme / Scheme for "Enabling Manufacturing Sector be Competitive through Quality Management Standards and Quality Technology Tools". Baddi, Barotiwala, Nalagarh Industries Association (BBNIA) was the local partner in organising the programme.

The programme was conducted by Sh. Naresh Chawla, an eminent expert on quality tools, six sigma etc. and Sh. Ankur Dhir, ISO 9000 Consultant and quality expert. 25 representatives from 12 local units participated in the programme.

In the first half of the day long programme, one to one discussions was held by the programme faculty with the participants when the manufacturing and quality system of the respective enterprises were discussed. The faculty provided valuable inputs for strengthening the quality system of the units and requirements for certification under ISO standards. The queries of the participants were also addressed by the faculty.

In the afternoon a round table session on QMS / QTT was organised which was chaired by Sh. Sanjay Bhasin, the chairman of MSME Chapter of BBNIA. In his address Sh Bhasin mentioned about the need for keeping the Quality first as the mantra for maintaining quality. He also opined that experts should suggest simple tools and processes for assuring quality in micro enterprises. Debashis Bandyopadhyay, Director (Policy) FISME, mentioned about the concept of continuous improvement to meet the discerning requirements of the customer.

The experts made Powerpoint presentations on QMS and QTT respectively and explained the objective of Quality of delighting the customer. In the presentation on QTT Sh. Chawla explained with case studies, how quality is always cheap in the long run and the story of quality focused growth of Japanese enterprises. Sh. Dhir in his presentation briefly mentioned about the different Quality system standards and their contribution in enhancing competitiveness of a firm.

The valedictory address was delivered by Sh. Rajender Guleria, President of BBNIA, who appreciated the initiatives of the DC (MSME) in making MSMEs quality focused. He stressed on quality focused growth of micro to small to medium enterprise and desired that Government schemes should encourage the growth rather than creating an environment of lesser support for growing enterprises. 

In conclusion President, BBNIA thanked DC (MSME), FISME and the faculties for providing a very learning experience to the participants through the awareness programme.
