High-level Danish Delegation Visits FISME


A high level Dutch delegation led by Mr. Uffe Ellemann-Jensen, former Foreign Minister of Denmark and presently Special Advisor to the Danish Government visited FISME to discuss the areas of mutual cooperation in SME space. He was accompanied by Mr. Peter Sand, Head of Section, Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Lars Christiansen, Commercial Counsellor & Deputy Head of the Royal Danish Embassy in New Delhi.

As part of a strategic policy shift, Government of Denmark is focusing on BRICS countries and one seasoned public figure has been nominated to coordinate activities specific to each BRICS country. Mr. Uffe Ellemann-Jensen- a very respected figure in Denmark has been personally chosen by the Danish Prime Minister. He has been appointed Ambassador-at-Large for Trade & Investment with India.

Mr. Ellemann shared that SMEs are backbone of Danish economy. He further highlighted that Danish economy was dominated by high-tech agriculture, pharmaceuticals, machinery among others. The primary focus of his visit was to explore areas of cooperation between Indian and Dutch SMEs.

A presentation on Indian SMEs and organizational profile of FISME were given by Secretary General FISME Mr. Anil Bhardwaj. He was assisted by Mr. Mukesh Kalra-Joint Secretary International Trade and Mr. V.N. Sastry, Joint Secretary (Policy).

Also present during the meeting was Mr. Poul V. Jensen, Director of European Business Technology Center (EBTC) who related to the delegation his experience of Indian and Indian business during last 7 years. The EBTC is the joint initiative of EC and Euro Chambers. FISME has active partnership with Euro Chambers.
