The Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME), India’s largest organization of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) has decided to help the Nashik Industries & Manufacturers Association (NIMA), Nashik to set up an Intellectual Property Rights facilitation centre at Nashik.

This decision was an outcome of an IPR awareness programme that FISME organized at Nashik on February 10, 2012 in collaboration with NIMA and with the support of the Development Commissioner, Ministry of Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises. The programme was part of the IPR component of the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme (NMCP) of the Ministry of MSME.

The programme was attended by more than 30 manufacturers and entrepreneurs from Nashik. The programme was very interactive and participants poured in with their doubts and constraints pertaining to IPR which were precisely clarified by the IPR Experts/Consultants. The technical session contained presentations on various components of the IPR Scheme and also about the significance of various IP tools such as Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks, Industrial designs etc. for the benefit of the industry of Nashik. The programme educated the participants about various hand holding initiatives of the Ministry of MSME under the IPR Scheme.

The programme was graced by the presence of Shri. Dhananjay Bele, President, NIMA, Shri. Venus Wani, Chairman – Seminars & Workshops, NIMA and other noted entrepreneurs from Nashik. FISME was represented by Mr Vijit Vasudevan, Deputy Secretary and IP Experts Mr. Karamjeet Singh & Mr Sajal Dutta.

In his inaugural address, Shri. The programme gave an overview of the various initiatives of FISME in generating IP awareness within the MSME sector and explained the various activities and initiatives of the FISME IP Facilitation Centre at New Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

As a result of the programme NIMA and FISME together plan to open an IP Facilitation window at Nashik to enable and expedite the process of filing IPR applications for the benefit of manufacturers  and entrepreneurs of Nashik.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks from NIMA. The participants well accepted the seminar and requested the organisers to organise more such sensitization programmes on IPR in the near future.
