President Message
Mr Animesh SaxenaThe World leaders got together for COP28 in Dubai to agree on ways to ensure a sustainable planet. The ambition for Net Zero Transition though a desirable outcome has profound implications for MSMEs. The MSME sector plays a vital role in developing economies and their transition to green technologies huge investments. Firstly, there is a need to develop accessible and affordable green finance instruments like low-interest loans, grants, and tax breaks for investing in renewable energy and resource efficiency upgrades. Secondly, partnerships needs to eb fostered between research institutions, technology companies, and MSMEs to transfer clean technologies and knowledge. Thirdly, what is also needed is streamlining and permitting processes and environmental regulations for green investments by MSMEs. Simultaneously, there is need to develop certification schemes and eco-labels for green products and services, enabling MSMEs to differentiate themselves and access premium markets. Last but not the least government support needs to be include for skill development, trade promotion and help for vulnerable groups namely women and marginalized communities. We need to convert the new responsibilities arising of COP28 to opportunities.

COP28 ambitions must go local. Share the burden of net zero transition with MSMEs too

World leaders came together at COP28 in Dubai to agree on ways to ensure a sustainable planet both now and in the future. On the fundamental level, the goal is to reduce the production and consumption of coal, gas, oil, and similar non-renewable resources. However, accomplishing this ambitious task requires taking a multifaceted approach, building scientifically sound targets, implementing cutting-edge technologies, and providing funds to expedite the transition to renewable energy. At the same time, global leaders must address complex social and political challenges. Transitioning from an international framework, where various countries negotiate these parameters, to a ...
