President Message
Sandeep K JainHistorically Prime Ministers’ address from the ramparts of Red Fort are considered significant as they highlight the political priorities of their times. Amidst the trade and tariff wars unleashed by the US on the world, Prime Minister Modi’s address contains important points of reference for immediate and future strategies for India. He has already made it clear that India would not buckle under US pressure and would not open its agriculture and dairy sectors. Already reeling under 50% tariff with impending further penalties, what Prime Minister has proposed is making India more competitive by effecting next generation reforms and rationalization of GST. Indications are that country may move towards a simplified, two-slab Goods and Services Tax structure, with lower tax rates on essential goods. The slabs most talked about are: 5% and 18%. Secondly, he has announced formation of a ‘Task Force for Next-Generation Reforms’ to review and modernize all laws, rules, and procedures related to economic activities is a strong signal of the government's intent to create a more efficient and less cumbersome regulatory environment. This move suggests a broader, systemic approach to economic reform that goes beyond specific policy changes. It indicates a focus on "ease of doing business" from the ground up, aiming to remove outdated regulations that hinder growth and entrepreneurship. The task force's mandate to reduce compliance costs and "provide freedom from the fear of arbitrary legal actions" would be a significant morale and economic boost. It could foster a more dynamic and innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem. It is widely accepted that Reforms have same effect as that Tax cuts and can certainly make Indian businesses more competitive. We do hope that the positive fall out of these reforms would offset the additional tariff burden imposed on Indian goods.

‘Friends of MSMEs in UP Assembly’ Formed To Accelerate State’s Economic Growth

On the lines of Friends of MSME in Parliament, a group of MLAs from 20 industrial centres in Uttar Pradesh came together to form the ‘Friends of MSMEs in UP Assembly’. Dr. Neeraj Bora, MLA from Lucknow, has been appointed Convenor of the newly founded group. FISME, which acts as the Secretariat for the 'Friends of MSMEs in Parliament’ at the Centre, will provide support to the UP body, similar to the support provided to the central group of MPs. The forum ‘Friends of MSMEs in Parliament’ at the Centre has proven to be very effective in resolving MSME issues by leveraging parliamentary institutions. The central group is headed by a senior MP from Indore, Shankar Lalwani, while its national Convenor is Rajendra Agrawal, a former MP from Meerut. The meeting was held on 12 August 2025 in Lucknow, a day before the 24-hour marathon discussion in the UP Assembly on the state's economic growth. In addition to Chairman Lalwani and national Convenor Agrawal, other Members of Parliament present at the meeting included Jagdambika Pal (MP, Domariyaganj, UP), Parbhubhai Vasava (MP, Bardoli, Gujarat), Alok Sharma (MP, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh), Ashish Dubey (MP, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh), and Kripanath Mallah (MP, Karimganj, Assam).

The Lazy Entrepreneur's Guide To Exponential Growth

You're working hard but getting nowhere. Maybe you launch ten things at once, then abandon them all when results don't come fast. Maybe you're putting in 60-hour weeks but your revenue stays flat. You don’t have a work ethic problem, that’s for sure. The problem is your alignment. Naval Ravikant says "Seek wealth, not money or status. Wealth is having assets that earn while you sleep.

Major GST shake-up: 12% and 28% slabs to be axed

The Centre has proposed to reduce the number of slabs under the Goods and Services Tax system, retaining the 5% and 18% slabs, while introducing a lower concessional rate below 1% and a high “sin rate” of 40% on just five to seven items each, according to official sources. This would entail entirely doing away with the 12% and 28% tax brackets. Of these, 99% of items currently in the 12% slab will be moved to the 5% rate and 90% of goods and services in the 28% bracket will move to 18%. There will be no cess of any kind over and above the GST rates. The Centre has proposed to reduce the number of slabs under the Goods and Services Tax system, retaining the 5% and ...

India's Wholesale Price Inflation Remains In Negative Territory For Second Consecutive Month

India's wholesale price inflation (WPI) recorded a negative 0.58 percent in July 2025, marking the second consecutive month of deflation, according to government data released Thursday. The decline was driven primarily by falling prices in food articles and fuel sectors, despite an uptick in manufacturing costs. The July figure represents a deepening of deflationary pressure compared to the negative 0.13 percent recorded in June 2025. This contrasts sharply with the positive 2.10 percent inflation registered in July 2024, highlighting the significant shift in pricing dynamics over the past year.

India Increases Anti-Dumping Duty On Chinese Fumed Silica

India's trade regulatory authority has raised anti-dumping duties on untreated fumed silica imports from a Chinese manufacturer after determining that the company was circumventing existing protective measures. The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) concluded that Shandong Dongyue Silicone Material had been absorbing previously imposed anti-dumping duties by reducing export prices thereby undermining the intended market protection for domestic producers. The revised duty structure imposes a rate of USD 1,296 per metric tonne on Shandong Dongyue, representing a substantial increase from the previous rate of USD 1,018 per metric tonne.

India Restricts Jute Product Imports From Bangladesh To Single Seaport To Address Alleged Unfair Trade Practices

India has implemented immediate restrictions on the import of specific jute products and ropes from Bangladesh through all land border crossings, according to an official notification released by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on Monday. The new measures represent a notable escalation in trade controls between the two South Asian neighbors amid deteriorating diplomatic relations. Under the new regulations, imports of the affected products will be permitted exclusively through the Nhava Sheva Seaport in Maharashtra state.

India’s Solar PV Module Manufacturing Capacity Crosses 100 GW Under ALMM

India has crossed a clean energy milestone, with solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing capacity under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) surpassing 100 gigawatts (GW). Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi called the development ‘historic’, crediting the growth to policy measures such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for High-Efficiency Solar Modules.
